We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Aircraft Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance for all aircraft maintenance and repairs. The ideal candidate will bring extensive technical expertise, a keen eye for detail, and a strong understanding of aviation regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

The Quality Assurance/Control representative is responsible for ensuring that assigned aircraft are maintained within required specifications and are airworthy before returning to customer. Inspects the work of Aircraft Mechanics, Aircraft Structure, Surfaces and System Assemblers and Avionics Technicians.

  • Ensures maintenance repairs and modifications performed to aircraft structures, aircraft engines, electrical, avionics and aircraft sub-systems meet all requirements.
  • Applies technical knowledge and expertise in determining proper equipment installation and operation.
  • Applies comprehensive technical expertise to assist the maintenance team in solving complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
  • Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
  • This position is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
  • This person shall have sufficient knowledge and experience to effectively assume responsibility for the overall quality and safety of the site contractor maintenance effort in accordance with the NAVAIRINST 3710.1 series and the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series.
  • This position requires the individual to manage/supervise the contractor effort while away from home station or in the absence of the site lead.
  • This person must have knowledge of project planning, management skills, proven leadership ability, in-depth knowledge of quality management, concepts, techniques, tools, and procedures.
  • Ability to work various shifts and travel to support customer requirements.
Job Requirements:
  • At least 6 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Improvement/Control, ISO 9001, and/or Safety & Environmental Compliance.
  • 4+ years of rotary-wing aircraft maintenance experience (H1, H53, H60 or equivalent).

Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Skilled/qualified in Naval Aircraft Maintenance or equivalent or hold a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • 4+ years as a CDI, CDQAR, QAR or service-equivalent.
  • DEPOT-level structural modification and maintenance experience preferred.

Technical Inspection & Communication:

  • Ability to perform quality technical inspections of aircraft, components, repairs, and related systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, manuals, and use specialized tools and equipment.

Quality & Compliance Oversight:

  • Ability to perform safety and quality inspections of on-site equipment and tools.
  • Ability to respond to customer concerns and track corrective actions stemming from internal and customer audits.
  • Ability to ensure conformity with company, FAA, and government directives during maintenance, repairs, modification, rework, and overhaul of aircraft and components.

Technical Guidance & Leadership:

  • Ability to provide technical guidance, instructions, and interpretations to team members.
  • Collaborative approach with EH&S, Compliance, and other inspectors in developing and reviewing Ground Operations Procedures in compliance with DCMA INST 8210-1C, NAVAIR INST 3710.1, and related directives.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, corrosion control, and preservation of aircraft, systems, and components.
  • Expert knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, and component parts.
  • Ability to detect, prevent, and treat corrosion.
  • Proper use of hand tools for aircraft maintenance.
  • Ability to complete maintenance documentation accurately and in compliance with policy and regulations.
  • Ability to work with senior management to maintain Quality Management System (QMS) and safety programs.
  • Ability to monitor compliance, conduct audits, and provide guidance in EH&S programs, including FOD, Lockout-Tagout, and Fall Protection.
  • Ability to keep up with regulatory and technical guidance and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders.
  • May be responsible for investigating mishaps and injuries and for oversight of the technical library.
  • Must have and maintain the level of Secret Clearance required by the Government.

Skills Preferred:

  • Have the ability to assist in preparation, processing, and answering of Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs).
  • Familiarity with Engineering Change requests
  • Familiarity with Aircraft system Proto-type work and the Validation/Verification requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and manipulate 50lbs independently when needed. 
  • Must be able to enter and exit aircraft using stationary steps/stairs and climb on ladders if needed.
  • Position involves long periods of standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling on aircraft structure and around aircraft for maintenance functions. 
  • Position may require working in a confined workspace and is located in a high noise area. 
  • Position may require use /exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids and cleaning solvents.
  • FIT for Duty Physical is required.
  • May require DOT and Respiratory Physicals.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools

Tools: Employee must own and provide basic hand tools required.
