Job Description:
Description:
Inspects complex, state of the art aircraft between assembly and delivery to the customer, including all stages of functional system checks, pre-flight, shakedown, engine runs, production acceptance flights, and certifies completed aircraft; inspects prototype or developmental aircraft, components and testing equipment, and certifies workmanship, operation and airworthiness of structural, functional and accessory items and systems.
Inspects, tests and operates entire aircraft electronic systems, including new systems, for conformance to company and customer specifications, prior, during and subsequent to acceptance flights.
WORK PERFORMED
Inspects completed aircraft compartment by compartment, including cabin and flight station, involving structures, functional installations, accessories, instruments, etc., for completeness, workmanship and conformance to Company, customer and F.A.A. requirements.
Inspects the installation and operation of test instruments, devices or systems used for recording results of performance of the aircraft, its components, assemblies, functional units, accessories or other items during aerodynamic, stress, flight or other tests.
Operates or observes the operation of all aircraft functional assemblies and systems. Observes operation of control surfaces; checks instrument readings, , power plants or other operations during power runs. Inspects routing, installation and operation of electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, fuel, oil and other functional systems, lines and installations, making operational checkouts of such systems as required. Inspects exterior of aircraft for neatness and location of painted spanings, and for quality of paint work.
Checks and approves the installation and functioning of special testing equipment and ballast in aircraft for test flights. Surveys the disassembly, alteration, modification, reassembly and test of standard or developmental accessories, installations, instruments and structures, and approves installation on aircraft designated for test purposes.
Stamps or otherwise approves those components, assemblies, installations and systems which are acceptable; rejects unacceptable items; certifies that workmanship and operation of aircraft and components meet the requirements of Company, customer and F.A.A. regulations.
Must have licenses as required by law.
May use defined processes, monitor process control and capability data to assure process remains in control. May assure data integrity through independent measurement.
Determines methods, operations and sequences, inspects and/or tests, approves or rejects, entire aircraft electronic systems and components, including prototype or new systems, such as radar, search and detection, fire control, autopilot, navigation and communication, for conformance to company and customer specifications.
Approves or rejects, the final operational checkout of the above systems, after installation in aircraft; signs off these systems for delivery to the customer.
Coordinates with vendor and customer representatives, and responsible company personnel in the correction of problems in the design or malfunctioning of complete aircraft phototype or new electronic systems and components.
Works from complex blueprints, circuit diagrams, functional test manuals, customer and vendor specifications, and other authorized oral or written technical data, whether complete or incomplete.
May operate and make final inspections of entire aircraft electronic systems during flight.
Those that possess second class Radio-Telephone Operator’s licenses/FAA licenses, second Telegraph Operator’s or better can operate radios. All other must be granted authorization to use only Lockheed assigned frequencies. Follows up material review board electronic items to point of disposition by responsible personnel.
Maintains records required to insure effective quality control on all aircraft radio, radar and other electronic systems and components.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have the following minimum levels of experience and/or training.
1. Four years experience within the past eight years performing military or commercial integrated systems maintenance and/or inspection on ‘LIVE’ fixed wing or rotary aircraft.
2. The following education and/or experience received within the past eight years may be used to offset a portion of the four years experience requirements as stated below:
–Applicable documented (DD-214) Avionics, electrical or Aircraft Maintenance technical school training may be included in the four-year minimum requirement for those individuals trained in the US Military service.
–A current FAA Airframe & Powerplant License may be substituted for six months of equivalent experience.
–A two-year Associate Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology, Aviation/Electrical or Avionic/Electronics Technology may be substituted for up to a year of experience.
–A four-year Bachelors Degree in Aviation Maintenance or Aviation/Electrical or Avionic/Electronics may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
–Each year of Active Air Reserve/Air National Guard aircraft systems maintenance duty may be substituted for two months of experience up to a maximum of sixteen months.
NOTE:
(1) “Live” aircraft is defined as aircraft with all functional systems operable and with the aircraft’s fuel and oxygen systems activated. “Live” aircraft experience includes working in the preparation for and release of aircraft for flight and includes knowledge of and experience in dealing with aircraft systems such as: fuel systems, liquid/gaseous oxygen, hydraulic, electrical, avionic, flight controls, landing gear, emergency egress equipment and engines.
(2) General Aviation/maintenance experience will not be considered as meeting the experience requirement stated in 1 above.
(3) Individuals must also have documented evidence of ability to read and interpret detailed assembly and installation blueprints as demonstrated by successful completion of the blueprint reading test, or by successfully completing LMCO’s Blueprint Reading II or it equivalent.
(4) Qualified individuals must also be able to pass LMCO’s Inspection Eye Examination.

Ability to Work Remotely:
Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position:
4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
